Have Questions?

We’ve got answers!

Do you treat Fort Cavazos military families?

Yes. We have a long history of treating active duty service members, military spouses, and dependents at Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood). Our office is roughly 50 minutes north of post via I-35, and we accept TRICARE alongside other major insurance plans. Many of our military patients are referred by primary care providers on post or through Killeen-area pediatricians. Read more on our Fort Cavazos page.

Does TRICARE cover allergy testing and treatment?

TRICARE typically covers allergy testing and immunotherapy when ordered for medical reasons. Specifics vary by plan tier (Prime, Select, Reserve), and authorization requirements change occasionally. Our front desk verifies your specific TRICARE benefits before your first visit so costs are clear upfront. We have decades of experience working with military insurance and the referral process for active duty members. Contact us through new patients for benefit verification.

Can I continue allergy shots if I PCS to or from Fort Cavazos?

Yes. We coordinate transfer of immunotherapy serum and treatment plans for service members who PCS to or from Fort Cavazos, both inbound and outbound. The serum can be shipped to your new clinic and you can resume the same protocol without restarting. We work with allergists at military and civilian practices nationwide on these transitions. If you are PCSing in, contact us a few weeks before your move so we can coordinate with your prior clinic. Schedule via new patients.

What allergens are common for soldiers training at Fort Cavazos?

Field training in Central Texas exposes soldiers to high pollen and mold loads, especially during cedar season (December to February), oak season (March to May), and grass season (May to October). Dust exposure during armored training and outdoor ranges adds to the load. Many service members pick up new allergic sensitivities during their time at Fort Cavazos, particularly first-time Texas residents from drier or cooler climates. The allergy testing readiness quiz helps determine if testing is appropriate.

How quickly can a Fort Cavazos service member be seen?

New patient appointments are typically available within 1 to 3 weeks. Urgent cases (severe asthma flares, recent anaphylaxis) can sometimes be seen sooner by calling our office. We coordinate with on-post providers when needed and work with command timelines for service members managing deployments or training schedules. Our 45 plus years in Central Texas includes thousands of military families. Call or visit our new patients page to start.
